Everything you need to know before joining
Martial arts are more than just exercise. They are primarily a form of self-defence and a great source from which to gain personal confidence. Training helps practitioners avoid or manage threatening situations, build confidence, and enjoy social interaction in an exciting environment.
Kickboxing is one of the most popular styles of martial arts. It combines self-defence, aerobic workout, flexibility, coordination and speed. It has attracted a large following across all genders, as it empowers practitioners to defend themselves, their families and their property while getting into great physical shape.
Kickboxing is suitable for men, women and children of all fitness levels. People who practise are those seeking to challenge themselves, find their limitations and develop beyond them — whilst having a great deal of fun. You don't need to be fit or experienced to start.
Classes begin with a thorough full-body warm-up, after which students learn basic kicks, punches and combinations. Our standard classes are non-contact, lasting around an hour, which eliminates any injury risk. Separate sparring and competition classes are available for students who want to take things further — but these are always optional.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. Bring a towel and a water bottle. For your first session, gloves and shin guards are available to hire at the gym — you don't need to buy any equipment before you know it's right for you.
None at all. All of our classes welcome complete beginners and our qualified instructors will guide you through every technique at your own pace from day one. Most of our members started with zero martial arts experience.
No joining fee and no contracts. You can attend on a pay-as-you-go basis at £10 per class, or take out a monthly membership for unlimited classes at a discounted rate. You're free to stop at any time.
Regular exercise combined with sensible eating is the proven formula, and martial arts training has helped thousands of people lose weight and achieve the physique they want over the past 20 years. Kickboxing in particular is a high-intensity, full-body workout — most sessions burn between 500 and 800 calories.
For noticeable fitness and technique improvements, we recommend training 2 to 3 times per week. Even attending once a week is better than nothing, but consistency is what drives results. Most members who commit to two sessions a week see significant changes within 4 to 6 weeks.
Absolutely. Our adult classes have no upper age limit and our instructors tailor the intensity to what each individual can comfortably manage. Many of our longest-standing members are over 40 and train regularly with no issues. If you have a specific health concern, speak to one of our coaches before your first session.
Pay-as-you-go classes are £10 per session with no commitment required. Monthly memberships are available for adults (£45), kids boxing (£35) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (£50), giving unlimited access to all relevant classes. Couple and family discounts are available — ask at the gym for details.
